NoDa

NoDa spans a wide range because the housing does. A mill-era cottage, a townhouse built in the last few years and a loft in a converted mill are three different products trading to three different buyers. The market snapshot and the charts on this page carry the current figures and refresh on their own, which is where those numbers belong.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools serves the neighborhood, and assignment genuinely varies by address. NoDa crosses two elementary zones, Villa Heights and Highland Renaissance Academy, and two middle zones, Eastway and Martin Luther King. One high zone, Garinger, covers it. Highland Mill Montessori, a PreK through 6 full magnet, sits inside the neighborhood as a choice program rather than an assignment. Confirm any specific address with the CMS locator.

Just under three miles northeast in a straight line, which is a ten to twenty minute drive depending on the hour. The more useful answer is that you do not have to drive it. The LYNX Blue Line 36th Street Station sits at the neighborhood's main cross street, and the same line runs north to University City.

Three of them. Highland Park Manufacturing Company Mill No. 3 opened in November 1904, was designed and built by Stuart W. Cramer, closed in 1969, and stands largely unchanged from the original. It was listed on the National Register in its own right in 1988. The Mecklenburg Cotton Mill opened the same month, drew its power from Highland Park's power house next door, and has been converted into housing. The Johnston Manufacturing Company was established in 1913 by C. W. Johnston and closed in March 1975, which ended active cotton milling in Charlotte. Its building has since been converted to apartments.

The commercial spine along North Davidson Street and East 36th Street is dense and continuous enough to use on foot, with restaurants, coffee, breweries, two music venues and a grocery store inside a short walk of the light rail platform. Green space is the honest limit. The neighborhood parks are small, and the Little Sugar Creek Greenway runs just outside the western boundary rather than through the neighborhood.

Two eras with a gap between them. Detached houses run from mill-era cottages through mid-century stock, condominiums centre on the middle of the 2000s including conversions inside the mill buildings, and townhouses are recent, with none recorded as built before 2002. Attached homes account for about as many properties as detached ones. Almost nothing at all was built here between 1980 and 1999.
